Herbs. God's own cure for many maladies. For thousands of years Herbalism has been practiced by many differing cultures and societies, from Native American "medicine men" to the writings of Hippocrates. "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it", yet many people want to forget these great natural remedies for circulatory system issues and think only of modern synthetic drugs to alleviate their problems. Well let me tell you something my friends, synthetic drugs only address the symptoms of hypertension.
Synthetic drugs may keep your hypertension under control, though they are expensive and have boatloads of side effects, but there are better ways. Herbal remedies do many of the same things as prescription ones, but they attack the root of the problem rather than the symptoms. All of this without side effects and for much lower costs. (often free, you can find many in your kitchen, or at least your grocery store.)
There are a lot of medicinal herbs out there that can lower high blood pressure naturally, without all of the side effects of prescription drugs. I have included a few here to give you an idea of the power of herbs.
Garlic: Wards off Vampires! Seriously it might just do that. Garlic truly is a wonder herb. There are a boatload of positive things garlic does for you. For lowering high blood pressure naturally, in particular, it is mainly known for thinning the blood and thereby lowering blood pressure. (thinning the blood, huh, perhaps there is something to that vampire myth). Another big benefit is that it has been shown to remove some arterial plaque.
Dandelion: This fun little ubiquitous flower is a natural diuretic. Assists your body in shedding excessive salt that could be damaging your heart and arteries.
Hawthorn and Hawthorn berry. Long thought of as one of the great natural remedies for circulatory issues by herbal practitioners. It has been proven that it improves circulation, heart functioning, reduces tachycardia, fights atherosclerosis, and, of course, regulates blood pressure. There are many reasons why it has these methods of lowering blood pressure naturally, mainly it is because of all the Flavonoids Hawthorne Berries contain.
Gingko Biloba: This herb has been proven to have a positive effect on dilation of the arteries and improvement of blood circulation, resulting in decrease of hypertension. Gingko has the added benefit of increasing your memory. This is good! It will help you remember to take all the steps necessary to lower your high blood pressure.
Ginger: Has been shown to accurately lower blood pressure in a safe and effective manner. Ginger is a great alternative to putting salt on your food. If you require more flavor in your food, use Ginger instead of salt. The more you use Ginger, the less your body will crave salt too!
These are just a few of the wonderful herbs that can be used to assist in the fight against hypertension. All are free or inexpensive and have none of the side effects of synthetic medications.
